FESTIVAL JOAQUÍN RODRIGO. TEATRO REAL (SALA DE ORQUESTA) | Madrid

As part of the 1st Joaquín Rodrigo Festival, which will take place from 2 October to 9 December 2025, the Sala de Orquesta of the Teatro Real (Plaza Isabel II, s/n) in Madrid will host a piano concert on November 22 paying tribute to the work of Ángel G. Piñero. On this occasion, the featured performers will be guitarist Angélica Rodríguez, winner of the 8th Ángel G. Piñero International Classical Guitar Competition, and the renowned Quartett HANA, who will reunite on stage following their concert on July 30 at the Museo San Juan de Dios – Casa de los Pisa (Granada).
The Teatro Real has hosted four concerts dedicated to Ángel’s work in recent years. On March 24, 2022, coinciding with what would have been his 90th birthday, a special homage to Spanish classical guitar and to Ángel G. Piñero himself was held. The event featured the Orquesta Clásica Santa Cecilia under the baton of José Antonio Montaño and brought together distinguished international artists from the world of Spanish classical guitar. On January 1, 2024, the Fundación Excelentia organized a New Year’s concert in the same venue to mark the 85th anniversary of the composition of Joaquín Rodrigo’s “Concierto de Aranjuez.” During that concert, Ángel’s work Brisas de Cádiz—inspired by the sunsets of his native land—was performed. On June 7 of the same year, a special concert was held combining his music with that of Manuel de Falla, another illustrious composer from Cádiz, celebrating the richness of Spanish repertoire. The most recent concert at the Teatro Real took place on April 23, 2025, also in the Orchestra Hall, and featured a piano concert dedicated to Ángel G. Piñero’s work. On that occasion, the piano was the star of the evening: renowned Italian composer, pianist, and conductor Paolo Marzocchi delighted the audience by performing his own piano adaptations of Ángel’s compositions, alongside works by other composers and some of his own creations.
In this very same Sala de Orquesta of the Teatro Real, on September 16, 2021, Ángel gave a lecture in which he explained the difference between playing with the right hand and the left hand—being the only guitarist in the history of the instrument to do so within the same concert. He later offered a guitar recital in which he demonstrated his virtuosity, performing three works by other composers and three of his own.

Teatro del Centro Federico García Lorca
El Teatro del Centro Federico García Lorca, ubicado en el centro de la ciudad, con concha acústica y con una capacidad para 400 personas, se ha convertido en escenario de ciclos como el Festival Internacional de Poesía Ciudad de Granada, el Festival Internacional de Música y Danza de Granada y el Festival de Guitarra, entre otros.
El Teatro pertenece al Centro Federico García Lorca, una institución cultural destinada al estudio y la investigación en torno a la vida y la obra del poeta granadino Federico García Lorca, así como a la difusión de su producción literaria y la conservación de su legado documental.

THE ARTISTS
Guitarist: Angélica Rodríguez
Angélica is a young artist born in Encarnación (Paraguay) in 1994, who masters the art of the guitar and lyrical singing. He actively collaborates in the dissemination of Ángel's work and has participated in numerous concerts, performing his works at the Andalusian Festival of San Juan de Luz (France), in Madrid (Club Monteverdi and Carlos de Antwerp Foundation) and at the Théâtre Athénée Louis-Jouvet of Paris.
Trained in Paraguay and Italy, Angélica teaches Classical Guitar at the “Istituto Comprensivo T. Onorato” in Sferracavallo (Palermo).
In 2010 she received the title of Senior Professor of Classical Guitar at the Municipal Art Center of Encarnación, her hometown. In 2012 she obtained the title as Senior Professor in lyrical singing at the Amadeus Conservatory in her city.
In 2015 Angélica moved to Italy to perfect his studies in classical guitar and lyrical singing, graduating with the highest grade (110 e lode) and Honorable Mention in Classical Guitar at the “Guido Cantelli Conservatory” of Novara (Italy), obtaining the Laurea II Level Magistrale under the direction of Maestro Bruno Giufreddi in 2017.
In 2019 she graduated in lyrical singing, thus obtaining the Laura Magistrale II level, under the guidance of Maestro Berardino Di Domenico, at the same conservatory. To complete his training, in 2022/23 he completed the Master of Musical Performance with Maestro Aniello Desiderio at the “Accademia Stefano Strata” in Pisa.
Angélica has obtained prizes in important international competitions among which stand out, among others:
- First prize in the "Lucas Braulo Areco International Contest" Argentina in 2012.
- Special prize for best interpretation of the obligatory work in the "Andrés Segovia International Classical Guitar Competition" La Herradura (Spain) in 2013.
- First prize in the "Concorso Internazionale di Chitarra Classica Rocco Peruggini" Italy in 2017.
- First prize in the "VIII Angel G. Piñero International Guitar Competition" online edition (Spain) in 2021.
She has offered recitals at important festivals, among others: “Stagione Internazionale di Chitarra Classica” in the XI edition, organized by the Atelier Chitarristico Laudense in the city of Lodi, Italy in 2016; “Solo concert” for the commemoration of the national holidays of Paraguay at the National Library of Catalonia. Barcelona, Spain, in 2018; Classical guitar concert "Tribute to Women" at the Embassy of Paraguay in Rome, organized by the same embassy and the Paraguay-Italy Association in 2022.
String quartet: Quartett Hana (Germany)
The Quartett HANA (Gyurim Kwak, Fuga Miwatashi, Simon Rosier and Tzu-Shao Chao) was founded in April 2019 at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts.
They are prize winners at multiple competitions, such as the Geneva International Music Competition 2023, where they received the 2nd prize. Furthermore, they won the 3rd prize at the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition 2023, a special prize “Förderpreis Jeunesse Musicales Deutschland” at the ARD International Music Competition and the 3rd prize at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University Competition in Berlin. In 2024 they took part at the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition Academy.
Recent performances have been, among others, at the Mozartfest Würzburg, the Groba Festival in Spain and Festival ‘Les classiques du Prieuré’ in France. Future engagements include performances at the Heidelberger Frühling Streichquartettfest in 2025.
The quartet has been studying with Prof. Raphaël Merlin and the Quatuor Ébène at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Munich since 2021 and with Prof. Heime Müller at the Musikhochschule Lübeck since 2024. They have been working regularly with Prof.Eberhard Feltz and Prof.Dirk Mommertz (Fauré Quartett). Furthermore, they have participated in masterclasses by Prof. Oliver Wille and Prof. William Coleman (Kuss Quartett), Prof.Gerhard Schulz (Alban Berg Quartett) and Quatuor Voce.
Since 2021 they are sponsored by Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now in Munich.
The two violinists Gyurim Kwak and Fuga Miwatashi alternate in the role of primaria.
El Quartett HANA (Gyurim Kwak, Fuga Miwatashi, Simon Rosier y Tzu-Shao Chao) se fundó en abril de 2019 en la Universidad de Música y Artes Escénicas de Múnich. El nombre “HANA” refleja los orígenes culturales de sus miembros: significa “flor” en japonés y “uno” en coreano, simbolizando la unidad y un espíritu compartido que conecta musicalmente al conjunto.
Desde 2021, el cuarteto estudia con el Prof. Raphaël Merlin y el Quatuor Ébène en la Universidad de Música y Artes Escénicas de Múnich. Desde 2024, también reciben mentoría del Prof. Heime Müller en la Universidad de Música de Lübeck. A partir de octubre de 2025, el cuarteto continuará sus estudios con el Prof. Günter Pichler en la Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía de Madrid. Además, los miembros reciben orientación artística regular del Prof. Eberhard Feltz.
El conjunto ha participado en clases magistrales con artistas de renombre como el Prof. Günter Pichler (Cuarteto Alban Berg), el Prof. Gerhard Schulz (Cuarteto Alban Berg), el Prof. Oliver Wille, el Prof. William Coleman (Cuarteto Kuss), el Prof. Johannes Meissl y el Quatuor Voce.
El Quartett HANA ha sido galardonado en varios concursos internacionales: 2º Premio en el Concours de Genève (2023), 3º Premio en el Concurso Internacional de Música de Cámara Carl Nielsen (2023), Premio Especial “Förderpreis der Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland” en el Concurso Internacional de Música ARD (2022), y 3º Premio en el Concurso Universitario Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (2020).
El cuarteto ha colaborado con artistas reconocidos como Itamar Golan, Sarah McElravy, François Kieffer, Margarita Höhenrieder y Michael Endres. Han actuado en salas como Wigmore Hall, Auditorium de Burdeos, Victoria Hall de Ginebra, Gran Sala del Konzerthaus de Berlín, Prinzregententheater de Múnich, Casa de Beethoven en Bonn, Biblioteca del Monasterio de Polling, los ayuntamientos de Tuttlingen y Kaufbeuren, Jahnhalle Geislingen y el Teatro Rosalía de Castro en España.
También han participado en numerosos festivales como el Festival de Cuartetos de Cuerda de Heidelberger Frühling, el Mozartfest Würzburg, Festival Groba (España), Les Classiques du Prieuré y el Festival du Guérinet (Francia), Rathauskonzerte de Heikendorf 2025 y la Soirée en el Schloss Burgfarrnbach de Fürth.
El Quartett HANA será Artista en Residencia en ProQuartet durante el período 2025–2027 y recibió una beca de la Fundación CRF de la Scuola di Musica di Fiesole en 2024. Desde 2021, el conjunto también cuenta con el apoyo de Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now München.

Compuesta en 2020 en plena campaña del coronavirus, como homenaje al dolor y a las víctimas de la pandemia.
Preludio azul
Dedicada a mi madre, víctima de la voracidad de la Guerra Civil española. Debe estar en el cielo y por eso lleva el nombre de Preludio Azul.
Evocación
Recuerdo de juventud de postguerra con mi hermano y su apoyo para yo fuera músico. En esta obra se refleja entre sus notas, la vida de sacrificios por salir adelante en nuestra juventud.
Murmullo musical
Es un murmullo musical en tono Mayor y menor simulando un chorro continuado de notas.
El viento de la vida
Preludio dedicado a la vida, su empuje y fuerza.
Caprichos
Es una obra espontánea, juguetona, hay un juego entre la melodía y el cromatismo que le da un interés especial

Canto a la serranía
PRENSA
El 11 de noviembre a la 19:00 se organiza a través de la Asociación de guitarra clásica Ángel G. Piñero, un concierto de guitarra sola y guitarra y cuarteto de cuerdas en la sala Manuel de Falla de la SGAE. Es un concierto monográfico de parte de las obras de Piñero, que serán interpretadas por un concertista ucraniano premiado, Stalisnav Stetshenko y el cuarteto Chagall.
El programa incluye las obras Preludio Azul, El viento de la vida, Murmullo musical, Balada a una desconocida, Viaje Nocturno, Alegrías en el puerto, Canto a la serranía y Brisas de Cádiz.
