CENTRO BOTÍN | Santander
Friday 27 June 2025 at 7:30 pm
On 27 June, the Centro Botín in Santander will host a new concert in the cycle ReCuerdas de una vida, under the name “Gran Concierto de Música Clásica. España y Chile: una Vida en común” in tribute to the work of Ángel G. Piñero. This time, the tribute takes the form of a chamber music programme that, for the first time in the cycle, brings together guitar, piano, violin and string quartet. On stage will be guitarist Angélica Rodríguez, Italian composer and pianist Paolo Marzocchi, Macedonian violinist Daniel Mojsoski, and the Chagall Quartet. The programme includes works by Ángel G. Piñero, as well as pieces by classical and contemporary composers from Eastern Europe.
The concert is promoted by the Ángel G. Piñero Classical Guitar Association and is organised by the Centro Botín, the Chile-Spain Foundation and Zertior. Its partners are the Embassy of Chile in Spain and the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP).
The Chagall Quartet, which has taken part in numerous concerts organised by the Association, and Angélica Rodríguez, a regular collaborator in previous editions, will be joined on this occasion by violinist Daniel Mojsoski, who will make his debut in a concert organised by the Association. Pianist Paolo Marzocchi will be performing for the third time, following his recent appearances with the Association in Madrid and El Puerto de Santa María.
A cultural and architectural landmark in the city of Santander, Centro Botín offers a privileged setting to honour Piñero’s legacy. The venue’s modern acoustics and inspiring atmosphere make this concert a fully immersive experience, where the intimacy of chamber music enhances the expressive depth of the Maestro’s compositions.

L’ESPACE

Pianist: Paolo Marzocchi (Italy)
Paolo Marzocchi, composer, pianist, and—when required—conductor, was born in Pesaro in 1971.
His musical journey began on a family heirloom piano in his childhood home and continued at the conservatory in Pesaro, where, at the age of 12, he was advised to abandon music in favour of other pursuits. After several years of self-directed study and diverse experiences, Marzocchi decided to give music another chance. He first embraced composition and, at the advanced age of 23, under the guidance of his mentor and friend Giovanni Valentini, returned to the piano. This unconventional educational path profoundly shaped his approach to music, fostering a natural affinity for composition in its many forms: from symphonic and chamber music to theatre, cinema, radio, and experimental works, all without concern for labels or linguistic boundaries.
Marzocchi has collaborated with a host of internationally renowned artists and received numerous commissions for operatic, symphonic, chamber, and piano works, partnering with distinguished Italian and international institutions. He frequently takes on the dual role of composer and performer or, when required, conductor.
In addition to his creative pursuits, Marzocchi has coordinated various experimental projects for Italy’s Ministry of Education, Universities, and Research, promoting musical education and social awareness, as well as creating repertoire for youth orchestras and choirs. His works include compositions for youth orchestras and children’s choirs accompanied by professional ensembles, garnering the attention of prominent musical figures such as Salvatore Sciarrino, Ivan Fedele, and Sir Peter Maxwell Davies.
His collaborations with Guido Barbieri have yielded several productions, including two operas: Il Viaggio di Roberto, which earned the praise of Riccardo Muti and was staged during the 2016/17 season at the Opera di Firenze under Marzocchi's baton; and the sacred opera Stabant Matres, commissioned by the Ravenna Festival in 2023, which premiered at the Basilica of San Vitale in Ravenna to critical and public acclaim.
Marzocchi's piano compositions, collected in the album Piano Works (awarded the Amadeus d’Oro and described as "mesmerising" by Luca Ciammarughi), were recently released in an experimental production by the new label Martinville.
He is the founder and artistic director of the WunderKammer Orchestra and serves as Honorary President of the Lipadusa Musical Association of Lampedusa.

Violinist: Daniel Mojsoski (North Macedonia)
Daniel Mojsoski, born in 2001 in North Macedonia, started playing the violin at age of 10. He moved to Italy to study with Grazia Serradimigni in Parma and Bologna conservatory, where he completed his studies in 2025 with top marks and academic honors. While he was a student, he has had the privilege of performing on a Capicchioni violin (in Parma) and a Bignami violin (in Bologna), generously loaned to him by the Conservatories. He also attended the prestigious masterclasses of Shlomo Mintz, Ilya Grubert, Stephan Picard, Boris Brovtsyn, Pavel Berman, David Schultheiss, Eszter Haffner, Markus Placci, Mario Hossen, Michael Frischenschlager, Marco Rizzi, Lenuta Ciulei.

On the international scene, it is worth mentioning the concert tour as guest quartet at the “Junger Künstler Bayreuth Festival” or their concert at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, both with great critical and public acclaim. They have also given concerts in Saint Jean de Luz and Biarritz (France).
The Chagall Quartet actively collaborates in promotion of Ángel’s works, performing his works in numerous concerts in Spain and beyond its borders. The quartet was one of the protagonists of the concert Recuerdas de una vida, which took place at the Teatro Real in Madrid on March 24, 2022, intribute to the Spanish classical guitar and the figure of Ángel and since then they have participated in several of the concerts organized to spread the work of the Master.
