Next Saturday, January 10th, the Club Monteverdi in Madrid will host the first concert of the year dedicated to the work of Ángel G. Piñero. On this occasion, Ukrainian guitarist Stanislav Steshenko, winner of the 11th edition of the Ángel G. Piñero International Classical Guitar Competition, will perform together with the string quartet Quartett HANA.
The concert marks a particularly significant reunion, as Stanislav and the quartet performed together one year ago at the Beethoven House in Bonn. For Quartett HANA, this will be their fourth concert within the Association’s activities, following their performances in Bonn and in the concerts held this year in Granada and at the Teatro Real. In Madrid, they will present a chamber programme combining works for solo guitar, pieces for string quartet and joint repertoire, including music by Ángel G. Piñero and other composers.
Club Monteverdi, renowned for its support of the arts, patronage and philanthropy, continues its commitment to promoting and disseminating the Maestro’s work, establishing itself as one of the key venues for this concert series.

EL AUDITORIO NACIONAL DE MÚSICA, UN TEMPLO PARA LA MÚSICA SINFÓNICA Y DE CÁMARA
El Auditorio Nacional de Música está considerado como la institución de referencia para la música clásica en España, consolidado como el principal centro de conciertos sinfónicos y camerísticos del país y uno de los espacios culturales más emblemáticos de Madrid. Desde su inauguración en 1988, se ha convertido en un punto neurálgico para la vida musical española, acogiendo cada temporada una intensa programación artística con una sólida proyección internacional.
El proyecto cultural del Auditorio Nacional de Música ha situado al recinto entre los grandes focos europeos de actividad sinfónica. Su programación, caracterizada por la excelencia, combina los grandes repertorios sinfónicos y camerísticos con propuestas contemporáneas y estrenos absolutos, manteniendo un firme compromiso con la evolución de la creación musical. El Auditorio es sede de algunas de las principales instituciones musicales españolas —como la Orquesta Nacional de España y la Joven Orquesta Nacional de España— y recibe de forma habitual a orquestas, solistas y directores de prestigio internacional.
El Auditorio cuenta con dos salas principales, la Sala Sinfónica, con capacidad para más de 2.300 espectadores, y la Sala de Cámara, concebida para recitales y música de cámara, lo que permite una programación versátil y multidisciplinar. Su diseño arquitectónico y su acústica, especialmente estudiada para la interpretación musical, convierten al recinto en un lugar idóneo para la gran música orquestal, coral y camerística.
Del mismo modo, el Auditorio Nacional presta especial atención a la formación de nuevos públicos y al acercamiento de la música clásica a las generaciones más jóvenes, integrando actividades educativas y divulgativas junto a su programación regular.
THE ARTISTS
Guitarist: Stanislav Steshenko (Ukraine)
Stanislav Steshenko was born in 1996 and began his musical path at the age of five with vocal and piano studies. At nine he discovered the guitar, which soon became his main artistic focus. He received his early training in Myrhorod, later continuing at the Kyiv Music College named after Glier and at the Kyiv University of Culture and Arts. He deepened his formation at the Kharkiv National University of Arts named after Kotlyarevsky in the guitar and conducting class.
Seeking further artistic refinement, Stanislav moved to Germany, studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München with Prof. Franz Halász, and subsequently at the Akademie für Tonkunst Darmstadt with Prof. Tilman Hoppstock as a scholar of the DAAD Foundation.
He has performed widely worldwide, appearing in Ukraine, Poland, russia, Germany, Denmark, France, Hungary, Italy, Greece, Belgium, Japan, Norway, Luxembourg, Spain, Chile, Croatia, Liechtenstein, Mexico, and Slovenia. His concerts include appearances in philharmonic halls, conservatories, festivals, and various international cultural venues. He has also given masterclasses at several guitar festivals and educational institutions.

At present, Stanislav Steshenko teaches at the Regensburg University of Musik and actively collaborates with various musicians in the field of chamber music.
String quartet: Quartett Hana (Germany)
The Quartett HANA (Gyurim Kwak, Fuga Miwatashi, Simon Rosier and Tzu-Shao Chao) was founded in April 2019 at the University of Music and Theatre Munich. Based in Munich, the ensemble reflects the home countries of its members: “HANA” means “flower” in Japanese and “unity” in Korean.
Since 2021, the quartet has been studying with Prof. Raphaël Merlin and the Quatuor Ébène at the University of Music and Theatre Munich. In 2024, they worked with Prof. Heime Müller at the University of Music Lübeck, and since 2025 they have continued their training with Prof. Günter Pichler at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid and with Quatuor Modigliani in the Elite Program at the École Normale de Musique in Paris. They are regularly mentored by Prof. Eberhard Feltz and Prof. Dirk Mommertz (Fauré Quartet), and have also received valuable insights in masterclasses with Prof. Oliver Wille, Prof. William Coleman (Kuss Quartet), Prof. Gerhard Schulz, and Quatuor Voce.
Recent highlights include performances at the Heidelberger Frühling Streichquartettfest in 2025, Mozartfest Würzburg, the Groba Festival in Spain in 2024, and the “Les Classiques du Prieuré” Festival in France. In 2025, the quartet participated as a Senior Quartet at the McGill International String Quartet Academy (MISQA) in Canada, receiving masterclasses from the Parker Quartet, Min-Jeong Koh and Mathieu Herzog.
Furthermore, the quartet has been selected as Ensemble-in-Residence at ProQuartet in Paris 2025-2027.
The HANA Quartet has earned recognition at major international competitions, most recently reaching the semifinals at both the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition in London and the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition in 2025. At the 15th Banff International String Quartet Competition in the same year, they were awarded the Christine and David Anderson Career Development Prize. Their previous awards include 2nd prize at the 2023 Geneva International Music Competition, 3rd prize at the 2023 Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition in Copenhagen, the special “Förderpreis Jeunesse Musicales Deutschland” at the 2022 ARD International Music Competition, and 3rd prize at the 2020 Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University Competition in Berlin.
The quartet has performed with many renowned artists, including Itamar Golan, Sarah McElravy, François Kieffer, Margarita Höhenrieder and Michael Endres, in concert halls such as Wigmore Hall, The Auditorium Bordeaux, Jenny Belzberg Theatre in Banff, Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Großer Saal of the Konzerthaus Berlin, Prinzregententheater in Munich, Beethoven House in Bonn, Bibliotheksaal Polling, Stadthalle Tuttlingen, Stadtsaal Kaufbeuren, Jahnhalle Geislingen and Teatro Rosalía de Castro in Spain, among others.
In 2024, the quartet received a string quartet scholarship from the CRF Foundation of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. They have also been supported by Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now in Munich since 2021.

Orquesta Clásica Santa Cecilia (Fundación Excelentia)
La Orquesta Clásica Santa Cecilia está integrada por profesionales de dilatada experiencia que han tocado en los atriles de las más prestigiosas orquestas de España y de Europa, y que permite cultivar con la máxima calidad los repertorios clásicos.
La Orquesta ya colaboró en el gran concierto celebrado en el Teatro Real el 24 de marzo de 2022, con motivo del 90 cumpleaños de Ángel, que supuso un punto de inflexión en la difusión de su obra.
Compañeros de prestigio: La Orquesta Clásica Santa Cecilia ha sido dirigida por importantes maestros como Roberto Abbado, Julian Rachlin, Grzegorz Nowak, Michail Jurowski, Jean- Jacques Kantorow, Thomas Sanderling, Kynan Johns, János Kovács, Alexander Polyanichko, Henrik Schaefer, entre otros.
Han actuado junto con la Orquesta Clásica Santa Cecilia, solistas instrumentales de la talla de Krystian Zimerman, Nicola Benedetti, Vadim Gluzman, Vadim Repin, Julian Rachlin, Alexei Volodin, Gabriela Montero, Boris Andrianov, Vesko Eschkenazy, Renaud Capuçon, Maxim Rysanov, Radovan Vlatkovic, Leticia Moreno, Eric Le Sage, Clara Jumi Kang, entre otros grandes solistas del panorama internacional.
La Orquesta invita regularmente a concertinos de las mejores orquestas del mundo, como la Royal Contergebouw Orchestra de Amsterdam, la Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, por citar algunas.
Actuaciones en los mejores escenarios: La Orquesta Clásica Santa Cecilia ha actuado en escenarios como el Teatro Real de Madrid, el Palacio de Euskalduna de Bilbao y en el Palau de la Música de Valencia, Auditorio Miguel Delibes de Valladolid, Auditorio de Zaragoza, Auditori de Barcelona, entre otros tantos selectos emplazamientos.
Ha participado igualmente en importantes festivales, como el Festival de Santander, de Galicia y el Festival de Pedraza y ha actuado en el prestigioso Festival Zurich International Orchestra Series en el Cadogan Hall de Londres.

JOSÉ ANTONIO MONTAÑO (España)
El madrileño José Antonio Montaño es considerado por la prensa musical especializada como "uno de los directores de orquesta españoles con más proyección del momento". José Antonio ya dirigió la Orquesta en conciertos para la Asociación en el concierto celebrado en el Teatro Real el 24 de marzo de 2022, con motivo del 90 cumpleaños de Ángel, y también en el concierto del 7 de junio de 2024.
Formado al lado de Maestros como Jesús López Cobos, Evelino Pidò o Pinchas Steinberg, José Antonio Montaño viene desarrollando una exitosa y versátil carrera en teatros y auditorios de prestigio internacional a través de todos los géneros (ópera, ballet y sinfónico) abarcando un extenso repertorio que va desde un primer barroco hasta estrenos contemporáneos absolutos.
Orquestas que ha dirigido: Entre las numerosas orquestas que ha dirigido, destacan la Sinfónica de Milán, Sinfónica de Madrid, l’Orchestra del Teatro Carlo Felice de Génova, Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, Sinfónica de Galicia, l’Orchestra Accademia del Teatro La Scala de Milán, l’Orchestre de l’Opera Royal de Wallonie, l’Orchestre Symphonique de Saint-Étienne, Real Filharmonía de Galicia, Orquesta de Extremadura, Sinfónica de Navarra, Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia, Orquesta de Córdoba, l’Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta y Orquesta Clásica Santa Cecilia entre otras.
Fue director titular de la Orquesta Escuela de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid (2003-2013) y de la Orquesta de la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (2007-2009). En 2016 funda la orquesta de instrumentos de época La Madrileña, con la que desarrolla diversos proyectos discográficos y de interpretación e investigación musicológica en destacados teatros, auditorios y festivales con repertorios del siglo XVIII.

PRENSA
El 11 de noviembre a la 19:00 se organiza a través de la Asociación de guitarra clásica Ángel G. Piñero, un concierto de guitarra sola y guitarra y cuarteto de cuerdas en la sala Manuel de Falla de la SGAE. Es un concierto monográfico de parte de las obras de Piñero, que serán interpretadas por un concertista ucraniano premiado, Stalisnav Stetshenko y el cuarteto Chagall.
El programa incluye las obras Preludio Azul, El viento de la vida, Murmullo musical, Balada a una desconocida, Viaje Nocturno, Alegrías en el puerto, Canto a la serranía y Brisas de Cádiz.
