THE VENUE

Castillo de Luna · Patio de Armas, Rota

Located in the heart of the historic center of Rota, the Castillo de Luna is one of the main testimonies to the city’s medieval past. The fortress, whose origins date back to the 13th century, was built on a former Muslim defensive structure. It later became the stately residence of the House of Ponce de León. It is also known that the Catholic Monarchs visited the city in 1477 and stayed in this building. Its architecture combines defensive elements with palatial spaces, notably its Patio de Armas, surrounded by arcaded galleries and adorned with refined Mudéjar Gothic-inspired decoration.

Over the centuries, the castle has served different functions and been the scene of important events in local history. Today it houses the Rota City Council and remains a place associated with the cultural life of the city. With its historic architecture and intimate atmosphere, the Patio de Armas offers a unique setting for concerts, bringing music into dialogue with one of the most representative heritage sites of the city of Rota.
