Composer and classical guitarist
Angel G. Piñero is -despite his death on 21 February 2022, we still refuse to speak in the past tense- a prominent Spanish composer and guitarist from Cádiz, born in 1932 with a varied and extensive musical career as a concert performer. His musical training is summarized in 17 years of official studies. He studied music (solfège, guitar, harmony, counterpoint, fugue, chamber music, history of world music, etc.) at the Conservatorio Superior Municipal de Música de Barcelona, later studying composition at the Munich Conservatory. Later he began to compose music, starting with guitar methods and composing musical works in the 1980s. His facet as a composer alternated with his work as a soloist. During his last years he was immersed in his work as a composer. His aim was to create repertoire for young artists and to enrich the heritage of the classical guitar.

This great artist caused the admiration of different audiences for his great ability (unique in the history of Music) to play the guitar with both hands. 2 TECHNIQUES, 2 SONORITIES.
He has been the only concert performer in history to have achieved both sonorities, giving each of them their rightful place in the general repertoire of music.

His musical repertoire
His work consists of six works for guitar and symphony orchestra, eight works for guitar and string quartet and twenty works for solo guitar.
“Music, if done well, is huge, it is a universal language.” One of the current references of the artistic expression of the Spanish classical guitar.
He is the author of the PIÑERO Classical Guitar Method, books with nearly 100 original studies for guitar, and the PIÑERO Accompaniment Method, each of these methods is made up of four books. He is also the author of another method of accompaniment to traditional rhythms. All the methods have been translated into German and the first into English. His music dedicates a part to his homeland, Andalusia, which includes three Andalusian dances. One of them is dedicated to Cádiz, his native land, a classical guitar work based on bulerías.

Discography
To write his compositions, Ángel G. Piñero is inspired by his state of mind, applying what he has learned over many years at the Conservatory.
In his discography he has recorded two CD’s entitled “UÑA Y YEMA” which include original concert works for guitar by Ángel G. Piñero. He also shows the techniques of fingernail and bud with works from the 16th and 17th centuries with the bud (Diego Pisador, John Dowland, Robert de Visée, etc…) and from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries with the fingernail (Bach, Sor, Tárrega, Granados, Albeniz and Piñero).
His third CD is dedicated to works composed by him with various foreign guitarists who won prizes at the “International Classical Guitar Competition Angel G. Piñero”. (Thierry Bégin-Lamontagne, Martin Bickerton and himself) performing works for solo guitar, works for guitar and quartet and works for guitar and orchestra).

La Asociación Ángel G. Piñero convoca dos concursos en 2021 uno de guitarra sola y otro para guitarra y cuarteto de cuerdas.
Tras el éxito cosechado en la VII edición del Concurso Internacional de Guitarra Clásica ‘Ángel G. Piñero’, celebrada a través de internet, la asociación del mismo nombre ha anunciado que, siguiendo con su intención de difundir la guitarra clásica y apoyar a los jóvenes que inician sus carreras, convocará en 2021 dos concursos: uno de guitarra sola y otro para guitarra y cuarteto de cuerdas.

El primer premio del VII Concurso Internacional de Guitarra Clásica Ángel G. Piñero ha sido para el ruso Roman Zorkin, que ha obtenido 3.000 euros y dos conciertos. Luca Romanelli (Italia) y Stalislav Stenshenko (Ucrania), han ganado ex aequo el segundo premio, 2000 euros y un concierto. El tercer premio, por su parte, ha sido ex aequo para la cordobesa Lucia Padilla (España) e Ivan García (Colombia).
Un total de 32 jóvenes talentos de 18 países del mundo han participado en esta nueva edición del concurso que se ha reinventado y trasladado a internet, debido a las circunstancias actuales. Han concursado jóvenes de España, Italia, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Eslovaquia, Hungría, Rusia, Polonia Rumanía, República Checa, Croacia, Ucrania, Chile, México, Colombia, EE.UU., Vietnam, Hong Kong e Israel.
El Concurso Internacional de Guitarra Clásica “Ángel G. Piñero” se reinventa
Este año se ofrecerá por internet para evitar los desplazamientos y aglomeración de público.
El concurso cuenta en la actualidad con 32 concursantes inscritos de 18 países.
Debido a la situación por la pandemia del coronavirus, el VII Concurso Internacional de Guitarra Clásica “Ángel G. Piñero” 2020, que estaba programado para el 10 de julio y que, como en años anteriores se daba en El Puerto de Santa María, este año se ofrecerá por internet, para evitar los desplazamientos y una aglomeración de público.
Así lo ha anunciado la organización de esta nueva edición del concurso que cuenta en la actualidad con 32 concursantes inscritos de 18 países: 16 de Europa, cuatro de América, tres de Asia y uno de África y, entre los concursantes hay ocho españoles.
Ángel G. Piñero suena en diferentes espacios de Madrid
En noviembre y diciembre, tres guitarristas internacionales tocarán obras del compositor y guitarrista Ángel G. Piñero, incluyendo dos programas integrales.
Las obras del guitarrista y compositor Ángel G. Piñero sonarán en diversos conciertos y espacios en noviembre y diciembre. Serán interpretadas por tres magníficos guitarristas de fama internacional: el italiano Luca Romanelli, el ucraniano Stanislav Steshenko y el mexicano Christopher Avilez.

El guitarrista italiano Luca Romanelli visitará el ‘Espacio Mercado’ de Getafe el próximo domingo 7 de noviembre. Allí llevará a cabo una integral de obras de Ángel G. Piñero. Serán Canto a la Serranía, Fantasía Andaluza y Alegrías en el puerto…

El día 11 de noviembre tendrá lugar otra integral de Piñero, esta vez en el Salón Manuel de Falla de la SGAE. La cita, ofrecida por la Asociación de Guitarra Clásica ‘Ángel G. Piñero’, se enmarcará en los conciertos de la SGAE. Sonarán diversas obras para guitarra sola y para guitarra y cuarteto, ejecutadas por Stanislav Steshenko y el Cuarteto Chagall
