CONCERTS > Le Chantaco Hôtel Golf & Wellness
Le Chantaco Hôtel Golf & Wellness | Saint-Jean-de-Luz, France
Friday 14 August 2026 at 7:00pm
On August 14 at 7:00pm, at Le Chantaco Hôtel Golf & Wellness in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, a new concert in the “ReCuerdas de una vida” series will be held, titled “Classical Music Concert – Centennial of the Founding of the Chantaco Neighborhood,” in tribute to the work of Ángel G. Piñero. This tribute is organized in collaboration with Jean-Philippe Larramendy, grandson of the founder of Le Chantaco Hôtel Golf & Wellness, who maintains a special connection with the Lacoste family.
For this event, we will feature a trio of artists and instruments presenting a chamber music program that brings together the guitar, piano, and violin. On stage will be guitarist Angélica Rodríguez, a regular collaborator on this project. She will be joined by Macedonian violinist Daniel Mojsoski, who, together with Italian composer and pianist Paolo Marzocchi, will round out the program, thereby reaffirming their close connection to this musical initiative.
The venue chosen for this series, Le Chantaco Hôtel Golf & Wellness, serves as a historic setting and symbol of Saint-Jean-de-Luz’s heritage, marking the centennial of the creation of the Chantaco Neighborhood. This commemorates how, one hundred years ago, René Thion de la Chaume spurred the development of this enclave with the creation of the golf course, while the Larramendy family built the hotel, which would become a prominent hub for the region’s social and musical life.
THE VENUE
LE CHANTACO HÔTEL GOLF & WELLNESS
Le Chantaco Hotel Golf & Wellness, located near the historic Chantaco Golf Course in a stunning natural setting at the foot of La Rhune Mountain, is one of the most iconic hotels in the town of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Its architecture, inspired by the traditional villas of the French Basque Country, combines early 20th-century charm with contemporary facilities designed for wellness and high-quality tourism. Its origins are linked to banker René Thion de la Chaume, the driving force behind the complex, and his daughter Simone Thion de la Chaume, a French golf sensation and the first foreigner to win the British Amateur Championship in 1927, who, after her marriage to legendary tennis player René Lacoste, made Chantaco the birthplace of one of France’s most renowned sporting dynasties.
Highlights of the complex include the main building, the rooms that witnessed the heyday of celebrities in the 1960s and 1970s, the expansive gardens and terraces, and its prime location adjacent to the Chantaco golf course, one of France’s most iconic courses, designed in 1928 by the renowned British architect Harry Colt. In 2016, it underwent complete renovation, adapting its facilities to modern needs while carefully preserving its original structure.
From a historical and scenic perspective, the hotel maintains close ties to the region’s sporting and tourism traditions, offering an experience that combines architectural heritage, nature, and wellness. Its rich history, alongside the historic Chantaco Golf Course and the center of San Juan de Luz, makes it a benchmark for hospitality in the French Basque Country, reflecting the evolution of a destination linked to high-end tourism since the early 20th century.

Pianist: Paolo Marzocchi (Italy)
Paolo Marzocchi, composer, pianist, and—when required—conductor, was born in Pesaro in 1971.
His musical journey began on a family heirloom piano in his childhood home and continued at the conservatory in Pesaro, where, at the age of 12, he was advised to abandon music in favour of other pursuits.
After several years of self-directed study and diverse experiences, Marzocchi decided to give music another chance. He first embraced composition and, at the advanced age of 23, under the guidance of his mentor and friend Giovanni Valentini, returned to the piano. This unconventional educational path profoundly shaped his approach to music, fostering a natural affinity for composition in its many forms: from symphonic and chamber music to theatre, cinema, radio, and experimental works, all without concern for labels or linguistic boundaries.
Marzocchi has collaborated with a host of internationally renowned artists and received numerous commissions for operatic, symphonic, chamber, and piano works, partnering with distinguished Italian and international institutions. He frequently takes on the dual role of composer and performer or, when required, conductor.
In addition to his creative pursuits, Marzocchi has coordinated various experimental projects for Italy’s Ministry of Education, Universities, and Research, promoting musical education and social awareness, as well as creating repertoire for youth orchestras and choirs. His works include compositions for youth orchestras and children’s choirs accompanied by professional ensembles, garnering the attention of prominent musical figures such as Salvatore Sciarrino, Ivan Fedele, and Sir Peter Maxwell Davies.
His collaborations with Guido Barbieri have yielded several productions, including two operas: Il Viaggio di Roberto, which earned the praise of Riccardo Muti and was staged during the 2016/17 season at the Opera di Firenze under Marzocchi's baton; and the sacred opera Stabant Matres, commissioned by the Ravenna Festival in 2023, which premiered at the Basilica of San Vitale in Ravenna to critical and public acclaim.
Marzocchi's piano compositions, collected in the album Piano Works (awarded the Amadeus d’Oro and described as "mesmerising" by Luca Ciammarughi), were recently released in an experimental production by the new label Martinville.
He is the founder and artistic director of the WunderKammer Orchestra and serves as Honorary President of the Lipadusa Musical Association of Lampedusa.
Violinist: Daniel Mojsoski (North Macedonia)
Daniel Mojsoski, born in 2001 in North Macedonia, started playing the violin at age of 10. He moved to Italy to study with Grazia Serradimigni in Parma and Bologna Conservatory, where he completed his studies in 2025 with top marks and academic honors.
While he was a student, he had the privilege of performing on a Capicchioni violin (in Parma) and a Bignami violin (in Bologna), generously loaned to him by the Conservatories. He also attended the prestigious masterclasses of Shlomo Mintz, Ilya Grubert, Stephan Picard, Boris Brovtsyn, Pavel Berman, David Schultheiss, Eszter Haffner, Markus Placci, Mario Hossen, Michael Frischenschlager, Marco Rizzi, Lenuta Ciulei.
Accomplished violinist with over a decade of experience performing with prestigious orchestras and in chamber music ensembles across Europe, he brings a blend of refined technique, expressive artistry, and wavering passion to every stage.
